Peregrine 4 Headboard

The headboard (also called the carriage board) is the circuit board mounted on the moving carriage directly behind the printheads. It receives print data from the mainboard and converts it into the firing signals that drive each nozzle, while also carrying power and temperature monitoring for the heads.

This is a replacement headboard for the Peregrine 4 DTF printer, built for four Epson i3200 printheads.

Symptoms of a failing headboard

• One printhead stops firing entirely while others continue printing
• Whole colour channels missing from output despite full ink and clean nozzles
• Repeated nozzle deflection that cleaning cycles do not resolve
• Garbled or scrambled print data on one head
• Printer reports a head communication or head board error
• Intermittent faults that worsen as the machine warms up

If a nozzle check shows one head completely dead while the others are clean, the headboard is a more likely cause than the printhead itself — and considerably cheaper to replace.

Before you order

Confirm your printer is a 4 head model running Epson i3200 printheads. The Peregrine 2 uses a different board — see our Peregrine 2 headboard. Compare your existing board against the product photo before ordering, as revisions differ between production runs.

Installation

Power down and unplug the printer completely before starting. Headboards are static sensitive: handle only by the edges and use an anti-static strap. Note the orientation of every ribbon cable before disconnecting, and make sure each is fully seated and latched on reassembly — a partially seated ribbon is the most common cause of a replacement board appearing faulty.

Run a nozzle check before printing production work.
