KodaColor Flushing Solution

A mild solvent for holding a printer's ink line in a safe state — either between two different inks, or through a period when the machine is not running.

Separating two inks

Inks from different manufacturers are not guaranteed to be chemically compatible. Push one straight in behind another and they can react in the line, thickening or precipitating where they meet, which blocks dampers and nozzles. Flushing solution goes between them as a barrier so the two never make contact.

Long-term storage

Pigment ink left standing in the lines settles and eventually dries, and a printer that has sat for weeks with ink in it often needs more than a cleaning cycle to recover. Flushing solution holds the lines wet without pigment in them, so the ink system stays in a recoverable state while the machine is idle.
